The Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It
If you submit information through our contact form, we collect your name, contact information, and the contents of that communication (including any personal information you choose to include in your message). If your message requests information regarding participating in studies, your contact information will be stored so we can notify you about future opportunities with Design Science.
If you request to join our mailing list, we collect your email address.
We automatically collect the following information about your use of our website through cookies, web beacons, and other technologies: your domain name; your browser type and operating system; web pages you view on the website; links you click on our website; your IP address; the length of time you visit; and the referring URL, or the webpage that led you to dscience.com. We may combine this information with other information that we have collected about you.
You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you visited the other website.
Where We Send Your Data
Design Science may share your information, including personal information to affiliates and service providers who perform functions on our behalf. Additionally, we may share data for the following reasons:
- If we are acquired by or merged with another entity or if our assets are transferred to another entity, we may transfer our collected data to that other entity;
- If we need to disclose the information we collect from you to comply with the law, a judicial proceeding, or another legal process (like a court order or a subpoena);

How We Protect Your Data
Design Science is concerned with protecting your privacy and data, but we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us in the instance of a breach of our industry standard physical, technical, or managerial safeguards. We implement socket layer technology (SSL) to protect your information while you are on our website. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. By using our site, you are acknowledging that we are not responsible for any intercepted information sent via the Internet or data loss caused by “hacks,”, malicious attacks, or other breaches caused by third parties, and you hereby release us from any and all claims arising out of or related to the use of information obtained by means of an unauthorized interception or breach.
Design Science retains contact information for prospective participants to notify them about future studies until they request we stop sending notifications. This allows us to still contact you for relevant studies, even if they occur infrequently.

- The URL that brought you here;
- The dates and times you visited our website;
- How you navigated our website;
- Your general geographic location (such as country and city); and
- The search terms you used to find our website.
To opt out of Google Analytics, you can visit the Google Analytics opt-out page and install an add-on for your browser that prevents your data from being collected.
The California Business & Professions Code Section 22575(b) (as amended effective January 1, 2014) provides that California residents are entitled to know how the website responds to “Do Not Track” browser settings. Our systems currently do not recognize browser “do-not-track” (DNT) requests.
If you decline to permit cookies or other tracking technology, we cannot promise that all features of our website will function properly.
Personal Information of Minors
Design Science does not knowingly collect personal information from minors under the age of 18 through our website. We do sometimes enlist minors, with the consent of a parent or guardian, to participate in our studies. If you are a parent or guardian of a child under 18 years of age and you believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us using the contact information at the bottom of this page.

Can I Change How Design Science Uses My Personal Information?
We may send periodic promotional emails to you. You may opt-out of such promotional communications by following the opt-out instructions contained in the e-mail. Please note that it may take up to 10 business days for us to process opt-out requests. If you opt-out of receiving promotional emails about recommendations or other information we think may interest you, we may still send you e-mails about services you have requested or received from us.
